Clickbank is one of the largest online marketplaces with hundreds of thousands of ebooks and other downloadable products available for purchase. You can make money online with Clickbank either as an Affiliate or as a Vendor.

  • As an affiliate, you resell or promote Clickbank products on your website, blog or any other means.
  • As a vendor, you make money online by selling your own digital products.

How It Works

Before you can begin, you will need:

  • A Clickbank account
  • A website or a blog
  • A downloadable product (if you want to be a vendor)

Opening a Clickbank account is free, as either a vendor or an affiliate. You can even be both a vendor and an affiliate at the same time.

Affiliates & Vendors

Did You Know?

Clickbank – one of the largest marketplaces online – offers hundreds of thousands of ebooks and downloadable products.

If you operate an affiliate account, you access Clickbank marketplace to choose products to promote. Clickbank then provides you with a unique link for each product that you place in your blog or website. You earn commissions for every Clickbank product sold via that link; revenue depends on the value of the products. As you browse the marketplace, you will see the commission for each product.

To be a Clickbank vendor, you need a unique domain name and a website or blog. Clickbank will let affiliates market and sell your products for you. Becoming a Clickbank vendor means you will need to become a pro at creating landing pages that convert well. Clickbank isn’t a place where you can just offload your sales process – instead, think of Clickbank as a source of sales leads. It’s still your job to close the sale.

Tips

To be successful, here are some crucial tips to master:

Pick the Right Products

Clickbank has thousands of products you can sell. Learning how to identify products that you can be successful with is critical.

First, choose products that will interest visitors to your site. This means having an understanding of the demographics of your readership. If you blog about the latest fashion trends, ebooks on military history may not be the best fit. Think about what you would buy and how much you’re willing to pay for it.

Pro Tip

Avoid promoting products that are either too cheap or too expensive. Inexpensive products generate very small commissions, and costly ones may prove difficult to sell.

Second, learn how to interpret the metrics provided by Clickbank. Take Gravity for example.

Clickbank has assigned a gravity score to every product. This is a number that lets you know whether or not a lot of other affiliates are making money with that specific product. You will want to avoid products that have a low gravity score, as that suggests that customers are not buying that specific product. At the same time, an exceptionally high gravity score suggests that you’ll face steep competition since lots of affiliates are already making money with that product.

Other metrics you need to understand include:

  • Initial $/sale: How much affiliates make for each sale, on average.
  • Avg %/sale: The commission percentage affiliates receive.
  • Avg Rebill Total: If the product includes additional billing (subscription, or payments), the average total amount affiliates earn through rebills.
  • Avg %/rebill: The commission percentage affiliates receive on rebills.

Note that not all products will have rebill values. If they are single-purchase items, there will be no rebill value to report.

Third, pick just a couple of products to get started with. While it might be tempting to start throwing traffic at lots of different products all at once, you will do better by picking just a couple of great products, and working hard to prime visitors for the sale as they move from your site to the seller’s landing page. At first, pick just one or two great products that you feel good about, and work hard at mastering the art of referring the right kind traffic to those sites – the kind of traffic that converts into sales.

The price is right

Avoid promoting products that are either too cheap or too expensive. Inexpensive products generate very small commissions while costly ones may prove difficult to promote and sell, especially during economically challenging times.

Rebills are one way some sellers will boost the value of their product without charging too much on the initial price. Be sure to keep this in mind if you see an a promising product with a low initial sale value – check the rebill value, as that may be where the seller is aiming to make a profit.

Targeted keywords

Most people use a search engine to find products of interest. It’s important that you use descriptive keywords for the products you promote. Ensure that your keywords are highly targeted in order to generate quality traffic to your website or blog.

Make a list of all the terms that might describe a product. Now enter them into Google and evaluate the results. Do the keywords match the product? Also, see which keywords competitors use.
